Beginning therapy is an act of courage and hope. It can be scary to begin a new relationship and there is likely resistance to being vulnerable. Yet it also indicates you have hope that things can be different, maybe it is possible to feel better. I absolutely believe it is possible. Change is inevitable in life and it can be very empowering to be the one to initiate that change.
You may look like you have it all, have achieved outer success, but inside you feel something is missing. You may feel nothing or that you don’t deserve success or happiness. Perhaps you feel that you are damaged or flawed.
Psychotherapy can provide a safe, supportive and validating relationship through which you can gain insight, process your emotions, challenge your biases, identify and reinforce your strengths and successes and develop coping skills to manage difficult emotions, relationships and life circumstances.
It is not simply talking about your problems it is also about working toward solutions. We will identify and address the obstacles in your way. We will break big concerns into small manageable steps and then develop attainable goals that can result in noticeable changes in all areas of your life.
Therapy may at times be difficult and emotionally painful. There may be some tears but there will also be laughter. Humor can facilitate much healing.
