About me

Becoming a therapist has been the culmination of all that I have learned and experienced in my career and personal life. I am in awe at the challenges and diversity of the human experience and helping others navigate these challenges brings me energy and joy.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I received my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University New England. I have worked in Community Mental Health (Advocates) for over 8 years and started my private practice in 2017. I greatly enjoy the challenge working with those with complex and chronic needs and in severe distress. I also did an internship in residential substance abuse (Naukeag) and continue to enjoy working with people committed to recovery and struggling to manage a sober life.

I started my career as a nurse, I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing from North Park College. I worked in Newborn Intensive Care and Pediatric home care. I became interested in the effects of illness on the development of the child and family and then pursued my Masters in Education in Early Childhood Development from Erikson Institute. I then worked as a Developmental Specialist studying the development of very high risk infants at Children’s Hospital in Boston. Looking at how life circumstances can affect attachment and the long term effects of unhealthy attachment is a particular interest of mine.

While raising my children I worked less and volunteered for Hospice for about 16 years. I then decided to pursue becoming a therapist, because I had discovered that focusing on a person’s emotional needs was my passion. I continue to do many different things to keep balance in my own life. I believe there is tremendous value in creating things, especially with your hands. The process focuses my attention and the products bring joy to my daily life. I am a passionate gardener, cook and artisan soap maker.
